Types of massage

Relaxation Massage
A relaxation massage increases muscle tone, while improving elasticity,
range of motion and circulation. It relaxes and rejuvenates the nervous system.

Rehabilitation Massage
Massage can assist with, and potentially shorten the healing time required for, soft tissue
injury rehabilitation – post-injury or post-surgery. In the case of a fracture, massage can
provide valuable supportive therapy for the physical compensation that will occur.
A Rehabilitative Massage program should be approved by the treating veterinarian.

Palliative Care/Geriatric Massage
The aging dog benefits from the increased circulation of blood and removal of wastes.
Arthritis, muscle atrophy, decreased nerve action, diminished mental function, circulatory problems and other aging issues may be improved with massage.

Puppy Massage
There are emotional, social and physical benefits for the young dog. Large breed puppies
in particular benefit physically as massage helps them cope with fast rates of growth.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage
This massage helps rid the body of toxins and waste materials. It is beneficial for dogs
recovering from illness or surgery, or for those who have taken a lot of prescription
drugs, or been on a diet of processed food or one high in fats.

Sports Massage
A stimulating sports massage prior to competition will help a dog to
be alert and ready for his event without the stress and strain often
associated with a vigorous pre-competition warm up.
